BDO
AIMING FOR THE BEST RESULT

As it goes about its business of helping its clients develop theirs, BDO makes a point of being socially responsible. Many of our specialists are personally active in the community, and as a public accountancy, we also have a clear set of guidelines that we use to try to contribute to the broader development of this sector in Estonia and the world. We also try to boost the competitiveness of the Estonian economy by participating in professional accounting and consulting organizations.

We are active members in the Estonian Board of Auditors, which is a professional association of sworn auditors and auditor associations, the goal of which is to organize professional audit activities and protect the rights of auditors. The Board of Auditors – a legal person in the public law – was established in 1999. Prior to that the Auditing Council served in a similar role.

We are also a member of the Estonian Assembly of Accountants. The Assembly is an organization uniting Estonian accountants in the exercise of their profession, ideals, rights and responsibilities.

BDO is a member of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a non-governmental organization representing companies. The aim of its activities is to represent and defend the common interests of Estonian companies in society at large as well as well as lobbying lawmakers on the Estonia and the European Union level. Nearly 10% of the companies operating in Estonia are members of the Chamber of Commerce; making it the largest entrepreneurial organization in Estonia.

BDO is also a member of the Estonian Taxpayers Association. The Taxpayers Association’s objective is to protect the rights and interests of Estonian taxpayers, seek the optimum tax burden and monitor the effective use of tax revenue.
BDO takes part actively in the work of the International Accounting Standards Board.

BDO, an international chain of public accountants and consultancies, has a clear sponsorship policy. BDO supports initiatives that represent the values we share and fields in which our contribution has a proportionally large and positive impact. The most outstanding such initiative is supporting the International Hockey Federation (the field hockey organization). BDO International Limited is the sponsor of the world championships in field hockey.
In Estonia, we supported the release of two CDs by the organist and educator Hugo Lepnurm.
